Physical Hydrology deals with the physical principles explaining processes that influence the storage and movement of water, as well as the measurement and analysis of storage and movement of water within the earth system. Soil Science deals with soils as a natural resource on the surface of the earth, including soil formation, classification and mapping, physical, chemical, biological and fertility properties of soils (per se) including those properties relating to their use and management. In this introduction only some of these are covered.

The course covers groundwater exploration, management and role in the hydrologic cycle. These topics are important to understand in groundwater resource management and protection. Groundwater terminology, flow concepts and quality are covered in the lectures.
